peggy west memorial scholarship

The Peggy West Memorial Scholarship was established to encourage and recognize LGBTQ+ students in Williamson County, Tennessee who are pursuing a degree in higher education.

Peggy West was born in a closeted world and spent most of her life living, working, and loving in a very divided way. She felt it was her calling to make people think, and to educate them where she could, to work toward a more diverse and accepting world. She believed in the power of education and encouraged young people to pursue educational endeavors.

We appreciate your donations.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

To apply, the student must be a current high school senior from Williamson County, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and have plans to pursue a degree in higher education. The expectation for all applicants is that they support and uphold the rights of all LGBTQ+ people, that they self-identify as LGBTQ+, and hold the belief that all people should be treated equally and equitably. We will award two scholarships, one for $2,500 and one for $1,500. Applications are being accepted now. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2026.

Please contact us at scholarship@pflagfranklintn.org for more information.
